Landmined lands are one of the biggest problems in the Kherson and Kharkiv regions!
According to the Head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, a total of 155 thousand hectares were surveyed by deminers on the liberated territory of the region, with 131 thousand hectares designated for agricultural use.
According to the Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleh Sinehubov, out of 1.2 million hectares of agricultural land in Kharkiv region, 570 thousand hectares require surveying and demining. It was mentioned that Russian occupiers caused damages of over 18 billion UAH to the agricultural enterprises of the region. The State Emergency Service units have cleared 8,600 hectares of territory, but demining efforts continue daily due to limited resources.
Currently, Ukraine is the most mined country in the world. Almost one-third of the country's territory, or nearly 174 thousand square kilometers, is considered potentially dangerous. The government has expressed its intention to return 80% of these territories to economic use within ten years.
